Tuesday: Hearst Castle

After a hearty breakfast at the wonderfully gaudy Madonna Inn, we drove to San Simeon to visit Hearst Castle, one of W R Hearst's many properties. It was fantastically over-the-top and to stand in the same space where the likes of Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Amelia Earhart, F Scott Fitzgerald, Charlie Chaplin, to name but a few felt pretty amazing.

After that, we had an almost 6 hour drive to Yosemite - it felt quite long but the drive was pretty stunning in parts. We arrived in the dark so can't wait to see what awaits us tomorrow.
