This is some detail from the golden gates in front of Warrington Town Hall, a very impressive building in it's own right.

The gates were built by Coalbrookdale Company at Ironbridge and originally they were shown at the International Exhibition in London in 1862. It is thought that they were originally commissioned by Queen Victoria but she is said to have declined them.

A member of the council saw them at Ironbridge and gave them as a gift to the council. They were officially opened in 1895.
