Good News.
I attended New Cross Hospital this morning to see the surgeon who operated on my heart 10 months ago. He is satisfied that I have made a good recovery and does not require to see me again.
Instead, he is referring me to the care of two doctors in my local hospital where I already attend the Action Heart sessions.
By coincidence the Wolverhampton Express & Star newspaper reported last Saturday that "A department at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital once again has recorded the lowest death rates in the country for serious heart surgery, figures revealed today. The hospital's Heart and Lung Centre, which treats patients from around the region, also has the best record for the shortest amount of time that patients are kept before being discharged in England".
This is the third year in a row that the hospital has won this accolade which makes it gratifying for me to learn that I could not have been treated anywhere better in the country. You certainly won't hear me knocking the National Health Service.
