Byron Bay, Australia
The sun was shining - hooray! :D A beautiful, hot day and we sat by the beach and had breakfast, perfect. We did some more shopping and we both bought some things we were looking for. I got a Byron bay cap which I was very happy with! We popped back to our hostel and in our outside terrace/balcony was a huge lizard which was climbing up the wall - not something you see everyday! Hugh and I then had a wander along the main beach paddling in the lovely water and then took the long walk to the lighthouse on top of the hill. We weren't expecting so much of it to be uphill and lots of steps (no idea how there were so many people jogging past us when we had trouble walking it!!) We got to the lighthouse just in time to see a beautiful sunset and views of Byron bay and beyond. As it was a long way back (around 1.5hrs) we headed back as soon as the sun went down as the light drops very quickly here. Honestly it was a bit terrifying walking back as we had to go through lots of wooded areas in the dark, where there was no light and we heard some strange noises. We actually spotted an owl! It almost made the terrifying evening walk worth it lol. We were very glad to be back in the town and when we got back to the hostel we had a salamander crawling inside in our room this time!!
