Mornington Crescent
This is my 2500th Blip. The first of today's extras tickled me as much as finally visiting the tube station. It's a photo of the pub opposite the station and it's called The Lyttleton Arms. If you've never listened to I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, then they will mean absolutely nothing to you whatsoever. And I'm afraid I don't have the time to explain. The nuances of straddling the pokeholder will have to wait for another day.
It's been another beautiful day in London. Breakfast at Dishoom - the bacon naan was lovely and it was sheer piggery to follow it with a sausage one. Not sure if "piggery" was really the word I was looking for there... Apologies to the pigs, but they were delicious.
We went back to the National Gallery to check out the exhibition Van Eyck and the Pre-Raphaelites. The main reason for going was to get a good look at the Arnolfini Portrait, and it is a painting worth studying.
The link is worth clicking on. The National Gallery website is a thing of joy. You can call up any picture in their collection and zoom in to all and any detail you like. Utterly fantastic.
Afterwards we escaped from people and wandered through parks right up to Kensington Palace.
The second extra was taken in Hyde Park (just like being back in Wiesbaden), the third was actually in the National Gallery and could be my motto, and the fourth is just a detail of a building at the start of Park Lane.
