Kalanchoe
According to the label, it is Kalanchoe Dessert (sic) Ruby - I doubt it is very sweet. But it is certainly very pretty.
We woke to rain, but it cleared up during the morning, so we risked a trip out to East Ruston Old Vicarage. We had mixed feelings about this garden, which is ostensibly "just a garden", but clearly has now grown to such a size that the owners must need to employ several gardeners to keep up with the work. Having said that, we enjoyed the visit - we'd both been before, but not for many years, and the garden has matured considerably.
We also enjoyed a generous veggie samosa and cream scone each. We finished our visit in the rain.
We liked, but note it is not for sale, the unusual two colour variety of the notorious Himalayan Balsam (see extra). The owners have apparantly stated that the variety in their garden is not particularly invasive, and certainly, although there were widespread stands of it around the garden, none of them were as dense or overwhelming as when we've seen it alongside rivers in the wild. In fact, we commented on how delicate it looked. Whether that's because they are thinned every year, or because they are less prolific, I cannot say.
We had a rather tedious journey home, finding the road blocked off by the police just short of Acle, and having to drive all the way to Great Yarmouth to cross the river and come back along the A47.
