Victor Hugo in Sciennes
43 years ago when I was living as a warden in Pollock Halls, I made friends with the co warden in the next hall of residence and we have kept our friendship going through all these years of children growing up, marrying, leaving home and giving us grandchildren.
Our birthdays are two months apart and every year we have a get together to celebrate the passing years and our collection of wrinkles, not forgetting to hear the news of each other's families.
Today was the turn of my friend to chose the venue and she chose this one for the celebratory coffee.
Victor Hugo is a well stocked delicatessen somewhere between our homes and close to the primary school our small children attended. There was no option but to sit inside as outside a chilly west wind and lack of sun made sure it was a no go area.
We had a wonderful, laughter filled hour, possibly giving fellow customers in adjoining booths free entertainment as we recounted tales of growing old disgracefully.
Although an hour is never long enough, the parking meter dictated time, but we know we will meet again next month and my choice of meeting place will not depend on parking.
