Old haunts
I had a meeting in London today - feeling quite tired of London having been there yesterday evening too. Got to London with plenty of time (after the third time and place change) had to be in Soho. I checked out some old haunts and it was really weird going pasta my old office. It was round the corner from The Ivy, I always find it so strange that it's on a side street hidden away. I was taken there for dinner once, it was a Monday and the Chairman of our agency was taking a client to dinner, the client cancelled and I was taken for 'good behaviour'. I was in my best, worst work jeans and a cruddy old jumper, all set to spend the day sorting out finances for my account. Joan Collins was also dining at the Ivy that night, she looked far, far more glamerous than me.
My meeting today was with an old colleague who is working with an old client and needs additional help, so she arranged for us to meet. But of course, they had a finance meeting just before they met me (at the Groucho, not a bad place to meet), and are worried about finances. Read, we may not need you after all. Came out wishing I was better at selling myself, hoping that I hadn't gone all the way to London for a spurious meeting etc... So, we shall see.
For the first time, the boys had the full day at the childminder. We had time for a walk this morning and they were wonderful whilst I got ready. The time and place for the meeting moved three times, so I ended up back earlier than anticipated. Two choices - swoop back and collect they boys early, or take advantage.... so I had a run, did a bit of tidying up and collected two tired boys who had been fed and seen their 'after school' friends.
