This Bud's for You
We arrived at the T-Mobile Arena just as they were unloading the nationally renown Budweiser Clydesdales. Truly magnificent creatures.
And... it was truly a magnificent night. It was the first home game ever for the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Because of the recent shooting tragedy, the opening ceremonies were quite moving. Every team member was introduced along with nurses, EMTs, Doctors, Firemen and Policemen who were among the first responders on that dreadful night just a little over a week ago. There was no advertising on the boards, only the slogan "Vegas Strong." The energy in the arena was unbelievable and then when the game started the Knights scored 5 goals in the first period. Unheard of and it was incredible! The other team came back to score two goals in the subsequent two periods but the Knights won and are the first expansion team in the 100-year history of the NHL to win their first 3 games. All the hard work by the Vegas Knights executive team over the last year has really paid off. There is still a long season ahead, and they aren't expected to be contenders for playoffs, but so far they have made their fans very happy.
I don't have a lot of pictures from the event. There are arena restrictions on cameras with interchangeable lenses so I didn't even bother to bring mine. I had my Sony pocket camera (which I hadn't charged) and my iPhone camera only. After the game, we were treated to a wonderful reception by the owner of the team for the staff and their families. It was an evening that made us very proud as parents.
