Plant Shopping
Today was the time to visit a "proper nursery" that we found some some months ago, before we moved house. They propagate all their own plants there, and the owner is really knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
In the end, I simply took photos of all the plants we wanted, and then showed him when we were finished. He wrote down the full name of each and will gather them all together over the next few days, ready for collection.
This is a Kniphofia Rooperi (red hot poker) which was one of just two plants that we brought back with us today, as a start to the "yellow/orange area". The other plants to be collected are all for the "red area". Seeing as we're having to start from scratch, as there was only one plant in the whole garden when we moved in (and it's getting on for 1/2 an acre) we are planning to have coloured zones.
Red hot pokers normally grow vertically, but this one had bent over and was heading sidewards. That doesn't matter, it'll right itself by next year.
