The Kelpies
A great day out in Scotland.
First we visited Loch Katrine for a trip on the steam powered Sir Walter Scott ship, built in 1899 and still going well. This was followed by a drive through the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park to see the glorious autumn colours.
On then to the Falkirk Wheel, the worlds first rotating boat lift. Amazing engineering which lifts a boat plus 100 passengers plus water to float in, up 27 metres using the electricity needed to boil a couple of kettles. Then we had to view the Kelpies, sculptured to remember the Clydesdale horses which pulled the barges and the ploughs. Finally we boarded a train to cross the Firth of Forth on the world famous Forth Bridge.
Tired now!
