the more the merrier

It's not every day that you meet a man who has 3,500 jam pots in his back yard. When Gordon told me about his collection, I imagined that they would be glass jars and rather uninteresting, but this morning we went to visit him in Moniaive and I couldn't have been more wrong!

The jars are in display cabinets which fill three rooms, and he has another 1000 in storage from 35 years of collecting. The oldest is from 1868 and they are of all shapes, sizes and styles. Gordon very kindly gave us one each to take home - he said they were duplicates. As well as being an expert on jam pots, Gordon is an accomplished china painter, he sings in our choir and has run 17 marathons. Of course was a prime candidate for "Humans of Dumfries and Galloway". Gordon's museum is usually open to the public from April until the end of September.

Sarah, Luke and Maddy all came along to the all-day singing workshop with the Cairn Chorus. This is where we start to tackle our repertoire for this year's Christmas and New Year concerts. Some really fabulous songs!

Now they have set off for Dumfries to fetch Georgie, Maddy's sister, who is coming to stay.
