Autumn Splendour
Perfect summer weather to show off the late colour in the garden and further afield as well no doubt. Stuck at home, I was able to enjoy the sunshine on and off during the day.
Crocus speciosus, pictured above, is a cheaply available autumn flowering crocus which despite a tendency to flop, is also a reliable performer year on year. Give it full sun for the best performance, huge flowers with a froth of gold in the centre. Late flowers on the rock roses also caught my eye along with clematis seedheads and the late apples from a tree raised from an apple pip Ruth planted about eighteen years ago. Happy days.
