Wonder of the day

A first for me in my garden moth trap this morning - Merveille du Jour or Dichonia aprilina. As I had a session booked at the nature reserve with Tring Photographic Club, it accompanied me and seemed very happy for a while posing to show its perfect camouflage when on lichen covered branches. The extra photo shows it waiting for me this morning on the outside of the trap, alongside the black light bulb I use to avoid disturbing neighbours.
