FLOOOOOD! RUUUUUUN!
ok, so actually the water has gone down a lot since yesterday but where is the drama and excitment in that hey? We took the children all out for a long walk to admire the floods while Ben did a little rewiring in the garage. Hopefully Mum shall not be going bang in a poof of electrical smoke for some time out there now...
The floods are impressive. Fortunately the developers have been held back so Cawood is surrounded by fields. These are the flood plains and a protective bank stands between them and the village. The area is very flat so there is plenty of area for the water to cover before it will get to the village. This lane leads across the Ings to Wistow and is now impassable. It is a giant lake, with water as far as they eye can see. But it works.
We took the children to the park while Mum started on a proper Sunday dinner of Roast Beef. The plan was to try and tire the childrten out for the drive home...
The time to leave came far too quickly and we set off - me in my "new" Espace with 3 children and Ben in my "old" Galaxy and Ally. We called in at Grandad Tut's on the way home to cokleect the rest of our "new" dresser. This is the first time the children have been there and the first time they have met his wife but it all seemed to go smoothly - we'll see if we get an invite to the new bungalow when they'e moved...
Finally we got home shortly before 1am after a fairly unpleasant drive in wind and rain. I love living in Cornwall - it's just a shame it is so far away...
