Storm Ophelia left some damage in her wake, but compared to the recent devastation and loss of life caused by recent hurricanes in other parts of the world, this was nothing.

The road we had driven back along last night was blocked this morning by a fallen oak, and in our own woods this dead oak trunk had come down, bringing two small sycamores with it. Here we are inspecting the damage, and D wondering how much he can cut up with his hand axe.

as the chimney was swept yesterday, the first fire of the year has been laid in then woodturning stove, and as soon as darkness falls, it will be lit. The first of many :-)
