Light and Shade

A walk up to the Figgate Park, where I discovered that I should have checked my camera before I left the house - managed to bring it without a memory card in - doh! Still, had my other camera in my pocket and therefore was still able to take a few pictures, even if I wasn't able to get close up shots of any of the wildlife as I'd intended.
In the evening I found out about Huddersfield Town's success against Man U in the afternoon's football and it made me think of my Mum. She'd have loved it - Town's first win over the big team from the other side of the Pennines since 1952. To be fair, the first time they'd played them since 1972, when Frank Worthington scored. I saw Frank score for Leeds at Roker Park a decade later. Anyway, Mum would have been delighted, as she always was when the white rose beat the red at football or cricket. And when I watched MoTD later there were pictures of Denis Law at the game. Although a Man U player in most people's memories he started his career at Town and my Mum told the story of seeing him on the top deck of a Huddersfield bus when she, and he, were both teenagers. She always had a soft spot for the Lawman, even if he did play for the wrong team for most of his career.
