Beating the Storm

With Storm Brian due to arrive at the weekend and our Saturday ferry cancelled because of the weather, we headed off early to beat the gales.  We left Belfast at 5 a.m. and caught a ferry from Dublin to Holyhead on calmish seas.  Alas, the M6 proved to be very slow going with a lot of stop/go jams.  Still, all that paled into insignificance compared to the 90 minutes that it took to travel just 5 miles on approach to the Dartford crossing.  We arrived at our hotel in Canterbury tired and a bit fed up.
