Norman Rockwell Museum, Stockbridge, MA
Gorgeous summer weather, it hit 25 today and we drove from Boston to beautiful Stockbridge. We were thrilled to spend the night and a couple of days in this iconic, perfect, small American town. The fall colours could not have been better. We toured the Norman Rockwell museum which also featuted an Andy Warhol collection as well. It was fascinating, Mr Rockwell was beyond talented and greatly admired by my artistic mother-in-law. His weekly Saturday night magazine covers over 3 decades was staggering. After 4 hrs we made our way to the fabulous Red Lion Hotel, where time and the modern era have not made their way. After a truly decadent dinner in the dining room we met 2 rowing friends in the downstairs tavern for a few drinks, while enjoying the piano player/singer. We then toddled off and enjoyed some quiet time in the outdoor hot tub following a stealthy raccoon. It was an idyllic day. This extra stop/day was to celebrate our 35 years together (in mid September, but we were too busy to do anything).
