Stairway to the sky

I love castles!

I've lived in Stafford for more than 6 years and today was the first time I've been up to the castle and been allowed to go inside the keep. I was like a kid in a sweetshop!
It may not be the biggest, grandest, or most impressive castle around, in fact it's an absolute ruin and they were going to pull the whole thing down in the '60s. But it's ours!

On top of getting to explore inside the castle -this the view down the passageway along one of the walls leading to the base of one of the towers- I went into the new and improved visitor centre. Last time I went it was just a little giftshop...now you can go in and try on helmets, costumes, and chain mail!!!
