The earliest Safe - Whitby Museum

This was made in about 1600 and features false locks and all sorts of mechanics.

We abandoned thoughts of a bike ride on the Moors as it was raining but Whitby Museum was fantastic and I would highly recommend it for a visit.
There were many treasures as well as the incredible fossil creatures such as a massive early type of crocodile, a jet and ammonite chess- board, detailed dolls houses, perfectly scaled large model ships and a leech prognosticator intended for the Great Exhibition of 1851.Tempest Prognosticator- an early form of weather forecasting!
Paul went fossilising later and met up with a guy who had travelled down from Aberdeen without his family for 3 days of fossil heaven!!

Stunning sky as we drove back towards Danby.
