Christ in Majesty 1260-1300

This is one of the most beautiful sculptures found at Riveaux Abbey - it in a new display to celebrate a 100 years of the site being owned by the Ministry of Works - prior to that much of it was just seen as romantic ruins much of it hidden under trees and bushes.

The corbel and butters carvings are truly scary; the stained glass from the Middle Ages beautiful.( see extras if you have time ).

We headed to Whitby for dinner but were really surprised to find that the Magpie Cafe had suffered a fire earlier in the year so was still being repaired! Alternative dining was found at Trenchers.
