I had a nice day, today. I took a rare day off exercising - not even doing my steps - and spent the day in the office, which I always enjoy, and then, in the evening, I cooked a splendid chilli for me and the Minx. 

And it's suddenly that time of the year when the lamps go on as soon as I get home, and the candles and fire are lit. With the curtains pulled, the house is very snug and homely. 

When I started the daily blog, five and a half years ago, the second photo I took was of this fire place, It was, to be honest, a terrible photo. This evening I tried it with a fast shutter speed and a highish ISO. I wouldn't even have known what that meant back then.
