Patience is a virtue...
When Lola bonded with David during her first couple of weeks with us, whenever he went out of the kitchen she would bark and whine and jump up at the kitchen door. It would take a fair bit of distraction (usually involving food!) to coax her away from the door and take her mind off the fact he'd left her behind.
These days when he goes out the room, there are generally two reactions. If she's settled and sleepy she will raise her head and decide if it's worth making a fuss, usually decide it isn't, and return to her repose or she will run to the door, bark and whine as before. The difference now is she will obey the sit and wait command. A great step forward.
This morning there was another step forward as David went out the room and I watched her hovering, trying to decide what to do. She glanced over at me and sat down. No direction from me, her decision.
I am over the moon as Shona the puppy trainer is back from holiday tomorrow and that's another baby step forward we can report to her.
A tiring, slightly frustrating but ultimately satisfactory day. Alan's team meeting, communication training, peg feeding training and follow up meeting all done and dusted. Another to do list as a result of that but that can wait till tomorrow.
This made me laugh earlier.
What do you get if you cross a gold dog with a telephone? A: A golden receiver! :-)))
