last day of summer

Was it the last day of summer today? ....that is, the summer we never had.

It was hot enough to eat breakfast, lunch & tea in the back garden. The sun shone, the beans grew, the dahlias showed off, the bees buzzed. We ate cake, drank tea & smiled. The grass got cut. Then I came in later & put the heating on!
