Another Morning, Another Bird, Another Meal

Here's the Norfolk Pine again, this time hosting a hawk who is having a nice fresh breakfast. You can see his gory catch hanging below the branch. I tried to puzzle out how a hawk can catch a bird, hold it in its claws, fly to the top of a tree, land, and grasp the branch while also holding his meal. I wish I could get close enough to see how this works. It's clear that the hawk has enormous grabby feet, but how do you keep your balance with one foot and hold your blue plate special with the other? At one point the air was full of small white feathers cascading down--an intriguing, somewhat magical sight if you don't know what's really going on.
