Early Morning, Lighthouse Field, football

This wild land at the edge of the ocean is a small state park, acreage that was threatened with a conference center years ago but is now protected. Here is the skeleton tree that is a perch for so many of the raptors I have photographed. In fact, there is a hawk up there at the very top, but he's very difficult to see at this distance. The fog was in heavy this morning; sunrise never really happened, but the air was ocean fresh and thrilling.

The other Extra is our grandson, playing for CAL, leaping over an opponent in today's game against Colorado. I'm just tucking this in here as a reminder of what a spectacular athlete he is. It's a screen capture from a handheld video made from the tv during the game--pretty far removed from an original image.
