Elizabeth Tower
SUNDAY
It was not a good day for travelling.
No trains were running through Huddersfield Station and only limited services down the Calder Valley line. I was going to go to Bradford but then I found out the city centre was closed for road races. So I drove over to Wakefield to the East Coast Main Line.
The 16:58 to Kings Cross was packed and to make matters worse the seat reservation system was not operating. I opted for first class but once we left Doncaster all the seats in the carriage were taken. Oh the joys of travelling on a half-term weekend.
Here in London, Elizabeth Tower is now covered on two sides with scaffolding. According to the website, "the scaffolding will be visible for the duration of the project but the upper section of the Tower will be uncovered as the project progresses".
The tourists are now concentrating their photography on The London Eye.
