Upcycling!

I have learnt a new word in the past couple of weeks - "Upcycling". We met Louise at a course we did in June and were really impressed with the beautiful work she was doing with recycled timbers. Over the past few days we have been working with her to breath new life into our outdoor table which has been doing its best to entertain people for 15 years now. It has weathered the hottest of summers, the coldest of winters and many storms in between. We had some Merbau decking timbers in the store room from previous work we had done on the lower deck almost 10 years ago and we have been able to utilise the timber to rejuvenate the table. The inset image is the iron base which I very carefully coated with an outdoor paint for metal (2 coats I might add). I'll make sure I post an image of the finished product next week sometime. We are thrilled with the way it looks already and after we have completed the task with a good protective timber oil it should look a million dollars. We'll be all set to party, party, party :).
