Megalong Magic
CCN and I decided to avoid the crowds today and headed down to the Megalong Valley for lunch at the tea rooms. After lunch we called in to say hello to the owner of the tea rooms and Chris very kindly gave us a tour of her glorious garden. The showpiece for me was this beautiful rose bush with the back drop of a magnificent Scribbly gum. I believe that the tree is "Heritage Listed". There's something very special about exotics like these roses thriving in a bush setting.
We headed back up the hill and paid a visit to the Rhododendron Art Show in the Community Hall. The show is a big part of the Rhodo Festival and we always enjoy wandering through and making our own judgements on the entries. I am still laughing every time I think of CCN's comment about one of the miniature paintings. She very quietly said - "It relies very heavily on the framing". I just hope the artist wasn't standing right behind us at the time :) We're home now and the fires on. You just never know what the weather's going to do at this time of the year.
