Childhood book rediscovered

It arrived from eBay today! Thanks to my sister TMLHereandThere for remembering the name. I hope the book is still as good as remembered. Currently I am reading Jaws, for my 197Os course! Enjoying the pulp fiction aspect.

I went to the dentist in Cheltenham. She told me I'd have to have a filling, and implied rather smugly that it was my fault for not having accepted x-rays last year when offered. X-rays, Schmecksh-rays! Aren't they supposed to be bad for you?
