Fly away

News from Croydon is not good.  Had a long chat with my sister Sarah after camera club this evening who has been visiting this weekend.  She was shocked at the deterioration in Mum in only 2 weeks.  She's being treated for a chest infection and is unable to walk or even sit up anymore and has stopped eating and drinking, so is painfully thin.  There was no acknowledgement or recognition of Sarah on the few occasions that she opened her eyes.

She's given up.

She never wanted to be alive like this, and she told us that 12 years ago (when she made an advanced directive).  But she has to be because she has dementia and because she can no longer express what her wishes are.
