Day 3 - Delhi tour
So today we have had a really busy day and I couldn't decide on one picture so went with 3!
Started with a visit to Humayun's tomb which is the picture top left it was so peaceful in there compared to the hustle and bustle of Delhi it was like a haven. We then drove past India Gate on the way to a step well where when there was a draught in Delhi it was where people could go and get water picture bottom left. We then visited Jama Masjid mosque and from there we visited the famous red fort which is 2.5km in length but only half is open to public the grounds were amazing and we saw lots of chipmunks running around.
We then went to old Delhi and were taken for lunch to a traditional Indian restaurant I was a bit worried as old Delhi is very run down and the outiside of the building looked like it had been in a war zone but once inside it was beautiful and very authentic. They bought a selection of traditional dishes which i would never have ordered but all tasted amazing!
After lunch we visited Ghandis home and the place where he was assassinated, it was a beautiful house with picturesque gardens where he lead prays. A lot of his quotes were around the grounds. From there we visited Qutb Minar which is the original Delhi which is the picture on the right hand side. The last stop was a bazar where I had some trouser custom made and delivered to the hotel 3 hours later, bought some bangles and a few souvenirs.
A fab day had taking in Delhi... long drive tomorrow to Agra!
