Remembrance

When I was a child I recall the town coming to a standstill at the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month.
Although Remembrance Day has taken place every year in recent years there has been a resurgence brought about mainly by footage of conflicts being beamed into people's homes, including the returning fallen passing through Wooton Bassett and instant communication.
In Falmouth the parade has grown from a modest fifty or so people to its current three or four hundred.
It is right to Remember, Veterans would prefer respect, not thanks and not sympathy.
