Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

They're back!

Got my times wrong this morning, and not for the first time. I thought they were arriving back in Edinburgh at 10.30am, but no, that was the departure time in Barcelona, arrival time here 12.30.

And so I need not have rushed (in my nightie, FP) to bath Archie in my nightie at 8.30. And what a palaver that was! I took in the wee stool to sit on, which was almost impossible for me to get up from, and I couldn’t reach him properly. I lathered him up as best I could, sometimes standing for more fulsome lathering, poor dog. Then I sat down again and hosed him for ages. He looked sooooo miserable. I then had to carry him to his table in order to dry him with the hairdryer. What a weight he is, especially when wet! I am SO glad I don’t have to do this very often.

It was freezing cold but sunny when they arrived back, so I had the heating on, and the fire. I had also made bought soup and muffins for lunch.

After they had recovered, they went off to see more of the sights of Edinburgh - Waitrose and M&S supermarkets of course. Not seen in Sydney and of interest to visitors, I’m told. They came back with goodies including Cava.

I took Archie to the Links with his frisbee. He's like a raging wild animal when he gets hold of it and won’t give it back, but when I sling it over my shoulder and put his lead on again, he knows time's up and trots off.

We have spent a lazy evening in front of the fire and TV, eating. But early bed for all, methinks.
