Gozo
We booked a guided tour around the island of Gozo and saw some of the highlights. Our first stop was Ta Pinu Basillica or the Church of Miracles. Outside there were beautiful mosaics (pictured) which reflected the sun on this particularly gorgeous day! Following a visit from pope John Paul in the 90s, there was a flurry of miracles where it is said many people were cured of lifelong illnesses and all sorts of other prayers were answered. The walls were covered in letters and personal items related to their miracle - a lot of baby clothes and back braces. Th view across the island from the church was just something else!
Our next stop was to a little shop full of local produce and crafts. A lot of filigree work and I got to try some cactus liqueur which was particularly tasty!
Then we were taken to the coast where the Azure Window used to be until it sadly collapsed back in March due to bad storms. It was quite funny that the tours still take you to the 'Azure window' which no longer exists... so me and Rick decided to make our own Azure window which quickly caused a trend amongst the tourists...! (Extra pics) There was also the fungus rock to see which now takes pride of place as the main attraction of that coastline!
Finally were went to the capital of Gozo, Victoria. Beautiful little city where we had a free lunch, a train ride around the city (lots of italians singing on this particular train ride...) and we got to explore around the Citadel which i may picture later for a day where I took no pictures!
probably my favourite day of the holiday
