(A backblip)

I regretted that we did not have our swimsuits at the beautiful beach at Hanalei Bay on the north shore.  The sea looked very inviting as we watched youngsters jumping off the pier in the hot sunshine.  We had stopped on the way to visit the Kilauea Point Lighthouse and Wildlife Refuge which is a sanctuary for seabirds. Wedge-tailed Shearwater chicks crouched in burrows just metres from the path while Shearwaters, Red-footed Boobies and White- tailed Tropicbirds soared in the sky and ferocious Great Frigatebirds swooped down to steal food from the other birds in mid air. Unfortunately it was too early in the season to see Humpback whales off shore and nesting albatrosses
