Silk

I've been noticing an abundance of these over the last few weeks - the common garden orb spider. I took this in my garden, but upon a short walk this afternoon I also noticed many more. It's been a fantastically sunny autumn day, and I was lucky enough to have a reasonably close encounter with a family of buzzards who had at first soared to many hundred feet, only to later pass right over me calling as they circled in a glide-circle-glide manner. Getting back our eight-legged friends, I've also recently had the 'fun' of walking out into the garden in morning, straight into these sometimes thick strands of web, wiping them from my face as I go... always puts a smile on my face that does!
