Hearts and Flowers

Today was Sam’s dad’s funeral.
I had to work this morning then did a mad dash home at 12 o’clock.
Darren and Sarah came over to ours and we had a drink before going next door to the church.
Sarah and I had a bit of a wobble when the family cane in, sam and his brother helped carry the coffin. It was horrible to see the girls upset. The church was packed and it was good to see so many people turn out.
After the service we went to The Crown. There was a buffet lunch then this evening they did a curry for everyone. At 6 o’clock we let off some Chinese lanterns from the front of the pub. Unbeknown to his mum, Sam had organised several lanterns to be set off from various points around the village at the same time so the sky was full of red lanterns. It was beautiful.
It was an emotional but also a very happy day as these things often are.
One of those days when you feel grateful for everything you have.
