Our hotel in Dubai was close to Creek Park, a large green space next to Dubai Creek. This area was surprisingly full of birds, including some that were new to me. Hoopoes were common and tame, poking around in the well-watered lawns in and around the park, often with grey francolins for company. We also saw rollers there, and masses of white-eared and red-vented bulbuls
