A fishy fishpond

I am not an expert on fish. In fact, I worry that I am doing it all wrong for these guys. I particularly worry about over/under feeding.

We had some squally weather last week, with hot days giving way to thundery windy mini storms. In the garden, the pond plants were blown into deeper water to disappear from sight.
So, some are now anchored into a heavy terracotta planter. Each new pot or rearrangement in the pond is met by a flurry of activity by the fish. I know on the rearranged pots I have sometimes spotted blobs of jelly - snail eggs? So maybe they are checking for newly revealed food sources, but it really looks like they are just being nosy!
