The smell of Christmas

I am home alone today while Mrs M and daughter No1 have gone shopping! I've walked into town got the papers and paid a visit to the butchers and bought  meat for dinner  tonight (casserole) 
Mrs M is in the middle of making Christmas decorations from oranges and cloves. which are hung around the house and give off a lovely festive smell.
Daughter No 2, who is at the moment the Principle of a couple of Colleges in Norfolk,  is today a guest of Prince Charles at Ascot !
Daughter No3 is working from home and getting ready for us to come  to  Sunday Lunch, much more sensible !
