Tongue and groove

I was walking through the wood, minding my own business, when this tree insolently poked its tongue out at me.

So I cut off the offending organ and took it home for tomorrow's breakfast.

(Fistulina hepatica, the oak tongue or beefsteak fungus, is edible and good.)
