Hola!
We made it to Spain. The Motorway was kind to us and we managed to work out the toll payment system on both sides of the border and neither Customs nor Police pulled us over when we reached Spain. Arrival, unscathed, at our intended destination was just bang on Midday.
It is a corker of a campsite. The staff are warm and friendly and very helpful. They have good English and are patient with our infant Spanish. The facilities are a marvel after France - there are spacious shower cubicles, toilets with proper seats on, paper provided and wash hand basins too... with actual soap. Not only that but they are ALL open. As are the bar and the shop.
We ate at the bar/restaurant for lunch, having the 11 Euro set meal of three courses, bread and a bottle of Spanish cider. Our host was delightful, coming out from behind the bar to explain the menu in full (it was dual language, Spanish and Basque but no English, though I do believe that we could have coped). He even taught us a little Spanish along the way...
After being stuffed well beyond full, we decided to walk down to the beach and on into town to see what shops there were. There are more than 450 of these steps on the way to the beach, plus some sections of hill without steps. Going down half killed me. Coming back... well! I survived to tell the tale, just.
We are here for three nights at least.
We are going to be short on bandwidth whilst in Spain. Our French SIM card only gives us just 5 GB a month whilst roaming. Luckily there is free WiFi on site here. I plan to explore low impact methods of updating our travel records but may well go missing for days at a time. We shall have to see. I'm going to find out about posting to my Wordpress Blog "Two Snails" by email and see if that helps cut down on bandwidth usage. Our main problem is that we choose to travel in out of the way places rather than in towns where free WiFi hot spots are readily available.
