Figs In Autumn

I like the German name for Autumn - der Herbst. Spring is der Frühling and I'm biased against anything with an umlaut because I struggled with them from the start. For Summer and Winter, they just didn't try at all - der Sommer und der Winter. But der Herbst I like as a word and as a season.

Someone asked me if articles mattered in German and they do hugely. It's handy to know, for example, the difference between der Projektleiter and die Projektleiter. The first one is "the project leader" and the second one is "the project ladder" and the difference is that the ladder is actually useful.

I've not done much today outside being woken up by the Best Cat in Germany at 10 to 5. He proceeded to tell me about being the Best Cat in Germany until shortly after 7 when he got so tired, he had to have a nap.

The problem with him is that we now have the terrace doors closed and they've been open pretty much permanently since May. He's got used to going out and in under his own steam and he doesn't like this change one bit.

Today's Blip is of the last of the figs, I liked the shape and colours of the three leaves. You can have the figs if you want, I don't think they're very ripe.
