For Or Against

No 50,000 in the differences between German & English is that with numbers, the Germans use a comma for the decimal point and the decimal point instead of commas. So not 50,000.00 here, rather 50.000,00.That takes a bit of getting used to.

No 50,001 is that in Germany one takes a tablet "against" a headache (ich nehme eine Tablette gegen Kopfschmerzen), rather than "for". In German, a tablet for a headache would be tablet that causes a headache and nobody wants one of those. Prepositions in German are a whole other proposition.

Enough of the language nonsense, I have good news to share - I've landed an interview with the company I've wanted to work for since I got to Germany. They're based here in Wiesbaden and it would be in many ways, my ideal job. That bit of news is as good as a "Tincture gegen ein cholerisches Temperament". The interview is next next week and I'm going to prepare like never before.
