New Work

Ellen took a break from exploring some new sculptural possibilities (see blip) this afternoon.  We were invited across to our neighbours.  They are just back from the States visiting family.  It wasn't just any family visit though.
Jane, in her early 70s, was adopted and decided a few years ago to find her biological mother.  So together with her husband, Barry, started to search.  She found out who her biological mother was (long dead) but also found out she had a family of four brothers and sisters living in California!  Her father and mother had moved with their family across to the States leaving Jane behind to adopted parents.  Her father told the family she had been fostered and they would send for her as soon as they were settled.  He never had any such intention.
A few weeks ago they went out to California to meet with Jane's brothers, sisters and their offspring or, at least, those would could manage it.  They showed us the photographs.  Proper family photographs.
Astonishing story.  Somebody should write this up.
