Smashed
Broke my iphone yesterday. It still works, but the glass is obviously smashed so it has to be kept flat, and at home. I can't put it to my ear, so it's only good for texting. I have no doubt if I took it to a 'Genius' at the Apple store, they will claim it has 'water damage' like they did with my last two ipods which never, ever, ever, ever went near any water at any time. Either way, they won't be suggesting any solution other than buying a new one. Betsy saw it and said, 'but what are you going to DO?' in a panicked voice. I said, 'pretend it's the eighties'. She rolled her eyes.
Because Chris is away I stayed up pointlessly late last night. I'm always like that when he's not here. I can't organise myself somehow. I ended up watching The Girl with The Pearl Earring until about 1am. I've never seen it before and I thought it beautiful. I read the book years ago but couldn't remember how it ended, though on watching it, I think they may have altered the end. After that I watched reruns of Have I Got News for You until gone 2.
I went for another run - more successfully this time. I know routes all through Bushey Park for different distances, and planned to run my 3 mile route twice, and then my 1 mile route. It was a good job I didn't run a route I didn't know as my GPS watch stopped after four miles without me realising. I did my planned 7 miles but because of the watch don't know my time which is probably a good thing as I'm sure it was slow. So different from yesterday - sunny and warm in the park, blue skies with fluffy yellow clouds. Very beautiful.
Won't run again till Sunday I think - swim tomorrow and bike on Thursday.
Betsy played football for the school team again. They played against Waldegrave, and some of her old schoolmates. They beat them 3-1 and Betsy was so pleased because she scored.
The three of us had a lovely evening. We watched some tv together, during which Betsy did a beautiful drawing and Al wrote a poem. A poem! I will have to copy it down tomorrow.
Chris back at lunctime tomorrow. A short trip. He's going to the AFM in a couple of weeks for a week. What a bore.
