Georges Melies
Betsy has been interested in Georges Melies since she saw the film Hugo. Chris has spent his whole adult life studying and loving film, and movies are one of his passions as well as his profession, and so has been really enjoying discussing him with her.
It's strange how since she has been at secondary school that time for these extra things in life has become so short. We have so many books on our list to read together; Wall and Piece, The History Keepers 2, To Kill a Mockingbird to name a few off the top of my head. Chris and Betsy were slowly working their way through the history of early cinema together until September brought us all down to earth. Now it feels like every night there is a club, a match, training for something, and a ton of homework.
How boring when education gets in the way of the things in life that you want to teach your children because you know they are what really counts!
So anyway, Betsy drew a scene from the 1902 classic A Trip to the Moon as a present for Chris on his return. A quite astonishing film for it's time, with influences reaching as far as The Mighty Boosh.
