Cabbage tree skirt
I was looking for something in the garden that wasn't blowing around too much, as it's windy today. We use the dead leaves from New Zealand cabbage trees (Cordyline australis) in our garden, tied into bundles, as fire lighters... they burn really well. They also tend to stay on the trunk for a while before coming adrift, and this is what I have photographed.
I thought this shot might be a candidate for b & w, but when I tried it, I found I preferred the natural colour, with a warm, brownish tinge to it.
